Ogden, Utah, July 2009 Painters, Well, here we are with half the year behind us. We have had a great seminar and five fun paint-ins. The challenge of learning something new was exciting. As most of you may know, we had to cancel our Appreciation Tea in June. This was not because we don’t appreciate you but due to inclimate weather. We have rescheduled this for the 26th of Sepember. As with our previous invitation, I would request that you RSVP by the 12th of September. There is still room in our ‘Christmas in July’ paint-in for those who can find time in your busy summer schedules. Our paint-brush box project for August is still on schedule. JoLynn, being the trooper she is, will still be teaching this class. I am very happy to report she has recovered well from her surgery. I also have one or two Brush Tote and Brush Barn acrylic boxes available. Speaking of surgery, Sandy Reeder is doing well after her bunionectomy. Also CarolAnn is scheduled for rotator cuff surgery this month, and I surely wish her much success. Most of you have done some quite wonderful paintings this year. I would like to suggest that you enter them in your county and/or state fairs. Then be sure to mention our Chapters. It never hurts to toot your own horn. For several years Terry has done an excellent job with your Newslettre. I know some of you are not computer fanatics nor wizards, but I hope you will check the Newslettre at least once a month and, if possible, more often as updates are made as needed. We will try to keep all of you informed of the goings on of Our Chapter. We still have a few clock-boxes available. If you would like one for Bobbie’s seminar or some other project, please let our seminar chairperson (Nancy) know ASAP. Have a safe summer and I hope to see you soon. Rebecca President |

Bobbie says that a love of art has been a part of her since early childhood when she tagged
along with her mother to paint classes. She had her first formal class in 1960 and has studied
with many decorative artists since. She opened Country Keepsakes Folk Art Studio in 1985 where
she and nationally recognized teachers conduct seminars and classes. Bobbie has authored several
painting books, numerous magazine articles and more than a hundred pattern packets. When not
travel teaching, she can be found at conventions or her studio in California.

Rebecca called the meeting to order at 10:05 and welcomed everyone to the June Paint-in.
She showed everyone the Las Vegas 2010 Convention book that just arrived in the mail and
passed it around to those who has not yet received one. Then she checked to make sure
that those who were not present at Hazel's Tassel class, but had has signed up, had received
the pattern and instructions.
The Acrylic brush boxes for the August class have arrived for those who ordered them. Becky
has them with her today. There may be one, possibly two available for sale.
Becky also urged everyone to check the Newsletter on the web. It contains a lot of info and
is occasionally updated mid-month with important/updated information.
Glenda urged everyone to bring raffle items occasionally. She has had very good response from
vendors and has enough for the seminars, but she needs items for the paint-ins. Plants are
always welcome. We really do miss Cathy and her wonderful plants.
Becky reminded us that we need to paint Memory and Treasure Boxes. Glenda is Treasure Box
coordinator and Lydia is Memory Box coordinator. Please support these community service
projects.
There is some question about whether the Victorian Tea will be held. Response has been low
and the weather is not looking too good. Mickey and the rest of the Board will decide next
week and let those who have signed up know what the plan is.
Time was then turned over to Tirzah for the "Painted Suitcase" class.
