Ogden, Utah, June 2009

Painters,

Here we are, nearly to the summer solstice and there are a number of you that I haven’t seen in quite awhile. YOU are our Chapter and you are missed.

By now you all have received your invitations to our Victorian Tea; please RSVP. This is only a fun social; you don’t have to bring anything but yourselves.

We are getting down to the wire for our fall seminar to which I know many of you are looking forward. You have choosen the Halloween clock which looks great. Our seminar chairladies, Nancy and Tirzah, will be contacting you to determine who wants the clock surface.

Do you have your suitcase, briefcase, etc. for Tirzah’s class? You could even reduce the pattern a bit and use fabric paints to put it on your shopping bags. Terry has found that the store logo can be removed by thickly dabbing it with “Goof Off”, rub off with paper towel, and last rinse the area good.

Hope to see all of you soon.

Rebecca/Becky/Reb

Member Mentions

Nancy Goss, one of our long-time chapter members, emailed me the following note to share with our membership.

"Many Golden Spike members will remember our daughter, Heidi. She has just had an article published in the new issue of Quick and Easy Painting. She has remarried since she last taught, so I didn't think many people would recognize her by the new name of Heidi Yates. Her article is a lighthouse and it can be found on page 16 of the magazine. We are excited that she is submitting articles again and wanted to share with you......Nancy"

Way to go Heidi!

Chapter Minutes

May 9th 2009

Attending:

     President - Rebecca Chaffee
1st Vice President - Glenda Mitchell
2nd Vice President - Tirzah Probasco
     Past President - Nancy Coley
     Web/Newletter - Terry Pulver

     Eileen Barnard
     Wendy Ouellette
     Betty Roberts

Rebecca called the meeting to order at 10:05 and welcomed everyone to the May Paint-in. Because of the re-scheduling, due to Hazel's accident, several people who had signed up were unable to be present today. Still, everyone who is here is looking forward to the class. Betty Roberts is helping Hazel today. Hazel and Betty also joined our Chapter today and so are doubly welcomed.

Rebecca announced that Tirzah will teach her Suitcase class on June 13th, the signup sheet is on the back table along with several patterns you can choose from. We will also be having a Member Appreciation High Tea on June 20th. There is no cost and all members are welcome. We do need a count of those planning to attend, so please sign up and let other members know so they can RSVP with Rebecca.

Hazel donated her sample tassel as a raffle today. So if you have not bought tickets, you need to do so before the drawings. (Note: Becky won the tassel, lucky lady.)

The chapter has several items for sale on the north table. Hazel has a number of fun tassel tops for sale, and Rebecca has a couple of wood boxes. You can check them out before the Paint-in is over.

Beck also announced that she would be ordering the acrylic brush boxes for the August Paint-in. We have 7 people who want them. Eight is the minimum order, so we will get one extra in case anyone is interested. We will also have a price for the wooden boxes by the time the newsletter is out.

Tirzah announced that the Chapter will be giving each member a table cloth for their own workspace. We ask that you bring these with you to the Paint-ins and Seminars.

Time was then turned over to Hazel. Besides the supplies for today's project she also brought a book with patterns, photos, and a couple of other tassels she had made; all ideas of the almost limitless possibilities for tassels.
