Ogden, Utah May 2008 Dear Ladies, I must start this letter by saying what a exceptional group of ladies we have in our Chapter. We had such a great turnout for Heidi’s Seminar. She is truly a great lady to paint with. She has so much knowledge and history that she brings to her Seminars. Most of all she loves what she does. I can’t wait to get my chest finished. Kudos to everyone that made this such a great event: The setting up, cleaning up, food and raffles - great job Thanks Tirzah - everything ran smoothly Avan Probasco - thanks for all the time and effort making our chests Carol - I know that Heidi really appreciated your hospitality Kitchen helpers - Glenda Mitchell, Kathy Jensen and Katie Barnard Please come and join us at this months project. Eileen will be teaching her “Cornucopia Lid” which looks like another great project. Next month Juanita Denton will be teaching “Green Apple & Lemon” watercolors. If you missed her last watercolor class, make sure you join us this time. July 12th Glenda Mitchell will be coordinating our “Treasure Box Class”. We still have boxes available if anyone is interested. Please join me in welcoming our newest member Jolynn Johnson. Last, but not least, keep painting. I must go and finish my chest. Until next month. Nancy |

Painters Tips
For those of you who want to 'antique' the bright brass corner pieces on your Nightingale chest, Eileen
has found a product that makes the job simple. The product is called Brass Darkening Solution
and you can find it at Hardwaretree.com for $4.95. Eileen says all you have to do is use fine steelwool
to break the surface and then dip the brass in the solution for a very brief time. It's that simple.
If you want more infomation give Eileen a call at 773-7509.
Happy Birthday

Nancy opened the seminar on Friday the 17th, 2008 at 9:10 am by welcoming everyone, including our
new member Jolynn Johnson, VP of the SLC Chapter, and Onya Tolmasoff, from California. She
then introduced Heidi England.
Everyone was asked to get their raffle tickets right away. This seminar we will have the
raffle drawings only at noon, so as not to 'break-up' our painting. Lunch Thursday will be Eileen's
great lasana, green salad, rolls, and brownies. Friday we will have taco salad, rolls, and cream
puffs. Saturday will be a potato bar and peacon bars. Janet Anderson brought the cupcakes and
chocolate and fruit cream cake. Her birthday was the 17th, Happy Birthday and thank you so much.
There are sign-up sheets in the back of the room for the May and June paint-ins. There will
also be a sign-up sheet each day for those who wish to go to dinner with Heidi. Thursday we
will be going to the Athenian and will have a belly-dancer preforming. Friday will be at
Rainbow Gardens and will include 'after dinner' shopping for those so inclined. Saturday we
will being going to Wendy's Sukiyaki (we will be sitting at tables, not on the floor).
There is sale table by the windows and a few 'free' painting books at the back of the room.
Heidi also has pattern packets and books for sale. Plese sign up for what you want, but do
not take them. There are not enough for everyone, so it will be first signed up, first served.
If you pay for everything you want now, Heidi will send the 'missing' items postage-free when
she gets home. We will handout what is available on Saturday. Heidi gave everyone a copy of
her 2008 schedule and on the back is her price list.
Please turn cell phone to 'quiet mode' for the duration of the seminar.
Time was then turned over to Heidi for the Emperor and Nightingale Chest.
Saturday, after 3 days of delightful, informative, and intense printing, Heidi told use that
she would leave her completed chest and a complete set of sample boards with the Chapter
for a couple of months so that we could get together and complete our chests. Thank you Heidi.
Though we all worked hard, only Lisa Peck completed the project. Way to go Lisa!!!
The seminar concluded at 5 pm on Saturday the 19th, 2008.
